Review
A mixture of folk lore, dystopian, horror, and fantasy all wrapped in one The Call is unique has you on the edge of your seat the entire ride! I am a huge scaredy cat and even though this did have gore and a lot of suspenseful moments that caused chills in my spine it did not genuinely scare me. The Sidhe are a brutal bunch and what they do to the humans they capture is not pretty and sadistic is too nice of a word!
The majority of the book takes place inside of a school, a setting in which I love! O'Guilin did an amazing job portraying a bunch of teenagers realistically living in one place. There was sex and angst and teen pregnancy which you do not normally see in YA!
The world was extremely well thought out! From the flora and fauna of the Sidhe land to the different types of classes the students took and why the Sidhe do what they do and how it is possible! Everything was explained but not in an infodumppy way!!
