I did not finish this Horror/Mystery novel it was so very well written and thought out but it negatively affected my mental health. A lot of the things that the main character goes through dealing with mental health triggered a past I would rather not relive so for my own health I had to put the book down BUT if you are looking for a psychological thriller that will scare you this is definitely the book for you! I have never encountered a book that literally made me put the book down shiver and walk away because it freaked me out so much! This may not be for everyone but if you have a strong mind this can easily be one of the best books of your year! Rating: DNF |
This fantasy was very middle of the road for me. The two main characters meshed together so very well. The love aspect happened a bit to quick for me but it seemed natural so I didn't notice much. The reasoning behind the main problem in the story made absolutely no sense to me this will be a series so maybe more will be explained in the next book but the "curse" that accompanies the two MC's was only half way explained which left a big plot hole. For someone who reads so much YA Fantasy this just didn't stand out all that much it wasn't bad but it definitely was not great! Rating: 3/5 |
This was a very unique look at super powers. The zeros are a team on teens who have powers but they have a significant downside to them. It was a nice change to see the negative effects powers have on "heroes" when we don't usually see them in out normal super heroes. My only problem with this book is that there want an outside source of problems the only problem in the book the Zeros made for themselves and every time they tried to fix it it just got worse. I loved the characters and their powers the story definitely had its issues. Overall i would say pass on this book because my issues were small and not something I think everyone will worry about. I loved this book!! It was relatable and extremely well written! The story is a autobiographical novel meaning she weaved in her own experience with bulimarexia and being admitted to a eating disorder program with some fiction to make a good story a lot of what happened in this book really happened to the author. A lot of times in autobiographies I wonder if the author so being truthful but this novel is saw raw that I can't help but believe it the way she describes family dynamic and different personalities of people she interacts with is so real! Of course if you suffer from an eating disorder this might trigger you so read at your own risk, if you do I think you will really enjoy the story JJ has to tell. Rating:4/5 |
