So this book has an amazing premise! A prequel to Alice in wonderland that shows the evil Queen of Hearts as a sweet young girl who simply wants to open a bakery. The first half of this book entranced me, and I was so excited to have my hands on it. The Queen of Hearts is a sweet young girl who simply wants to open a bakery with her best friend/lady in waiting.
While dealing with overbearing parents who want her to marry the king. Catherine (The Queen of Hearts) meets a roguish young man and the usual events happen. The first half is almost typical, and you can see what events are going to transpire.
Then the second half of this book happened and I felt like I got a bit lost in the plot, and not in the good way. It felt convoluted and honestly, I felt myself skim reading toward the end.
Overall my reading of this book was a mess and I wasn’t impressed sadly…
